Banksy Rant.

Banksy Outdoors

Graffiti is the guerrilla art form. I hate it when it only consists of a few scribbles declaring someone ‘was here’. I love it when it’s a beautiful tag, or a mural you can tell was given lots of time and thought. That’s the guerrilla art form I love.
The beauty of Graffiti is its rebellious ‘f**k you’ nature. I always imagine the artist sneaking around producing visual delights while trying not to get caught by the law or the territorial opposition.

Graffiti artists don’t want your money and don’t care what you think. So what does that make of Banksy? Would a true Graffiti artist have a website and sell miniature versions, and other merchandise? I don’t think it matters. Honestly, the guy leaves his mark everywhere, from the obvious places to the obscure, and his work always works your mind-grapes. Oh, and he’s so good at it, people want to buy it off his website, and he gives it to them. Does that make him a sell out? If you think so, you should suck it. You know who’s a sell out? Anyone who stops being a fan after the artist/band in question hit it big and start banking. Look at Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst, they realized that in order to make whatever they wanted they needed butt-loads of money. So KUDOS Banksy! Not only are you an effective and talented Graffiti artist, you’re also making money. If I ever saw anyone of your works on the street it would make my month*.

*That’s right I said ‘month’. ‘Year’ or ‘life’ would be an exaggeration.
