Propaganda - by Mehrdad Riyahi
All too often, we overestimate ourselves. Not in terms of the mind, or the soul—for there, sadly, we almost always underestimate our abilities and capabilities—but in terms of our bodies. We dismiss the power of the mind, of the soul. We think that the now, the tangible, the body is what lasts because it may be more visible and loud at the time. The irony is that the power of the flesh is not that of the flesh at all. It is a power that is merely reenacted with (and within) the flesh.
We all reach some point in our lives, however temporarily, when we believe we will live forever, that we are invincible—or, far worse, that we have a right to impose on others with our bodies. Think of this as you will; politically, sexually, in the heat of battle—somehow, somewhere, at some point, we have this illusion of power.
It is a misguided power, yes. And Illusions—like any tool that is converted to a weapon—can be used wrongly. Even illusions have their strength, for they are founded upon beliefs, and, ultimately, there is nothing more powerful than conviction. Because, you see, it is all in the mind. Which brings us back to the soul, after all.
Respect this power, fear it if you must, but know its results are in your power. It is your personal constant struggle, when you unmask it you shall see: it is not the power of the flesh, but the struggle of the soul.
